Charles and the Golden Keys.

While only speaking with them for a little over an hour, it felt as though I had gained insight into nearly a decade’s worth of knowledge and love for the Organ. Charles shared that he had picked up the Organ later in life, while always being musically inclined, it had become a beloved hobby for the last 30 years.

Prepared for battle.

He came in with a pair of glasses for reading sheet music, a tote full of various texts and musical compositions, many of which looked older than I am. And then there were the shoes, well loved is the only way I can describe them, tape on the heel and a toe patched with leather filler of a different color. He noticed my fixation and said that they are at least 20 years old. 20 years is a long time to dedicate towards anything, especially a pair of shoes but I think that’s what made them all the more charming.

Conversing about this and that.

Charles played many things, noting the significance of the songs in relation to Easter, recalling this and that over the years with Ted. Did you know the Organ has foot pedals that function as the lower keys? This one had two rows for the hands and a set for the feet, I thought it was pretty cool.
